Reflection

"We must try to be like those rivers that enter into the sea without losing any of the sweetness of the water."

~Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy~ in Correspondences: p. 243

At times we become so caught up in the daily toil of life that it is easy to lose sight of the journey, let alone the meaning of life. Task after task and sometimes even person after person gives us too many challenges and our life becomes full of stress. Taken to its extreme, we choose not to enjoy a moment or perhaps don't even take care of our own self or those close to us. Yet if we step into the flow of life we realize that the river continues to flow toward the sea and in her sweetness will carry us on our journey too. We only need to step in and let the buoyancy of the waters be our guide.

· Reflect on where you resist being a part of the flowing nature of life. What is that like for you?

· What in your life seems to flow without your intervention? Where is the blessing in this for you?

· Close your eyes and imagine yourself in the rivers of life flowing to the sea. What is that image? Taste and savor its sweetness.
